VILLA CHRISTINA
We have been holidaying in Kefalonia for over
10 years and fell in love with the island and the locals from day one.
Having toyed with the idea of owning a piece of land in Kefalonia, we spent several holidays looking for our own
piece of heaven. After having been close a couple of times we finally found what
we were looking for in May 2005. We put a deposit on our land and returned in
July to finish the transaction.
Having previously stayed in a villa built by A.E.C., and being recommended their services, we were introduced
to Panagis and George in May 2005. As the Communication Manager, Panagis became
our main contacts person throughout the project. He fully lived up to his title
- the communication was faultless.
I had drawn some plans to give them some idea of
what we were looking for. They came with us to the plot and after our return to
the UK
we received detailed plans for their proposal of our villa. During the next
weeks we made the odd changes here and there and new plans always followed
promptly. When we returned in July we agreed to the plans and these were passed
in November 2005.
We then received a detailed pricing for the whole project. This
included all the necessary work but also suggestions from A.E.C., for optional work they would
recommend. I would like to point out that the pricing of the project never
changed during the construction works. The price we were quoted was the price
we paid.
We signed the contract and agreed to a start
date of 28th February. We then visited Kefalonia early February 2006 to choose
all the materials for the villa. This included tiles, kitchen, bathrooms, doors,
colours etc. This was a few very hectic days in which we received a lot of help
from Panagis.
He went to most of the shops with us and was happy to advise us using his
experience from previous projects. The last day before we left we went to the
plot with George and Panagis to mark out the position of the house and the pool.
The winter was very wet and windy and due to this the first day of
digging was 11th March. Over the next 2 months we received many e-mails with
lots of photos attached, so we always knew what was happening at the plot.
During this period we often had calls from Panagis making sure we were happy
with everything. During the construction new options would come up and we
always were informed so we could make the decisions.
This close communication was as good as being there in person.
We then returned in May for a week. During this week we were introduced to Fotis, who was the daily supervisor. He proved to be
another very valuable member of the team. We were impressed by the number of
people they had working on our house and the speed of the construction. During
this week we agreed to the plans Panagis showed us with regards to the hard
landscaping (walls, steps, railings etc.)
Over the coming months lots of photos followed and the construction was
finally completed 20th July 2006, nearly 4 weeks early! We arrived
in August to find that A.E.C.,
had made our dreams come true. Even during our time of moving in we received a
lot of help from A.E.C. Nothing
was too much trouble for them. The house was absolutely fantastic.
The workmanship is of a very high standard. Most British builders and
constructors could learn a lot from A.E.C.
We have had no problems worth mentioning at all, and are only too happy to
recommend A.E.C., to anyone
thinking of having their own place built.
We would like to thank all the staff at A.E.C., but particularly Panagis,
George and Fotis for all their hard work. We have
made friends for life and are looking forward to starting our new life in Kefalonia.
